During the summer of 1998, a revival of Swing music became a worldwide cultural dance craze, and DJ Alan White, then known as the Ol’ Spin Daddy, decided to create an Internet radio station to organize the then-new Neo-Swing music into a sensible, charitable presentation.
SwingTop40 Radio signed on into cyberspace on January 1, 2001. Thereafter SwingTop40 Radio broadcast 108 weekly Swing Top 40 Weekly Countdown Shows, streamed 24/7 throughout the following week.
By the end of 2002 White felt he had charted all of the quality, relevant Neo-Swing released, so, having accomplished his goal, the broadcasting of new shows was halted in early 2003.
We believe that our archived SwingTop40 Countdown Shows randomly streamed music segments represent the most complete, comprehensive collection of Neo-Swing music from the 1990’s Neo-Swing revival era anywhere in the world.
We hope you enjoy the music of the Neo-Swing Revival and the history that it represents.
